Please refer to the bottom of the page for my video.
For my solo, I chose the song ‘Once Upon a December’ from Anastasia the Broadway Musical, this is the original Broadway version that I took reference from
I found it difficult at first as it’s an American song and I had to sing it in a British accent, but through rehearsal and line learning it got easier rather quickly. In the video, Anya can be seen with a music box as she sings the song, and I wanted to incorporate this into my performance, however I don’t have a music box. Instead, I used a small candle and focussed it more on a familiar scent that brings back memories for each individual and played around with that.
My feedback from the draft video we sent was that I needed to give off less of the moany sound and more of a sad sound, and that I needed to stop pitch gliding across the notes. I tried my hardest when recording the final take to stop myself from pitch gliding, but as I rehearsed it with pitch glides, I feel like it was inevitable that some of them were going to show up. In the final take, I felt like I was less moany, as I was conscious of doing so and as a result it made me sound sadder.
This is my final submission for the singing video.
